State institution “Investuok Lietuvoje” together with the association “Investors’ Forum” implements “Investors‘ Spotlight project to encourage cooperation of business and science and popularise relevant educational programmes for foreign investors.

For the fifth year in a row, the “Investor’s Spotlight” project has awarded quality labels to as many as 8 engineering and IT study programmes. Among the winners there are the study programmes of five Lithuanian higher education institutions, one of which is the study programme of Electronics Engineering at the Faculty of Electronics and Informatics of Vilniaus Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences.

This year “Investor‘s Spotlight” reviews have focused not only on engineering specialties, but also on information technology. Thus, we strive to facilitate the selection of these studies among graduates, since there is already a shortage of qualified specialists in the field of engineering and information technology that Lithuania can offer to future foreign investors. It is necessary to solve the problem of the shortage of employees in demand, otherwise Lithuania’s competitive advantage will decrease.” – says Mantas Katinas, CEO of “Investuok Lietuvoje”.

“Review of study programmes allows companies to get acquainted with the content of the programme in detail, receive detailed comments from university representatives and provide recommendations according to which the programme will be improved. Participation in this initiative encourages companies to actively share their experience with the academic community, get involved in the development of the study programme from its very beginning and ensure that the acquired  knowledge will provide students with the skills necessary in the market” – says Vytautas Janilionis, Operations Manager of TGW Limited Branch in Lithuania.

Representatives of companies with foreign and Lithuanian capital in the related sector are included in the review of the study programme. Programmes for which an improvement plan based on business recommendations is being developed are awarded the “Investor’s Spotlight” Quality Label.

The following study programmes have been awarded “Investor’s Spotlight” Quality Label in 2020:

  1. Vilniaus Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences Professional Bachelor’s Programme in Electronics Engineering
  2. Vilnius Gediminas Technical University Bachelor’s Programme in Mechatronics and Robotics

Dainius Tumosa, the head of UAB “EKSMA Optics”, who participated in the review of the study programme Electronics Engineering at the Faculty of Electronics and Informatics of Vilniaus Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences, has graduates of this study programme among his employees and is happy with their professionalism. In the course of preparing the improvement plan of the study programme, it turned out that Vilniaus Kolegija, in turn, had already planned a number of proposed changes, so the check only confirmed that they were on the right track.

“The Electronics Engineering programme fully meets the needs of the labour market. The study programme is designed so that students acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge. And this is extremely important and valued in companies engaged in production activities. I am sure that studying in this programme will be interesting and useful for any curious graduate interested in electronics construction” – said Dainius Tumosa, the Director of UAB “EKSMA Optics”.
