Ambassador of Canada to Lithuania visit to Vilniaus kolegija
On April 8, 2026, the Ambassador of Canada to Lithuania, Jeanette Sautner, and the Trade Commissioner, Eglė Jurkevičienė, visited Vilniaus kolegija.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the leaders of Vilniaus kolegija – Rector Dr. Žymantė Jankauskienė, Vice-Rectors Dr. Nijolė Zinkevičienė and Rita Liepuonienė – and Head of International Relations and Projects Department Dr. Jolanta Preidienė.
During the meeting, Vilniaus kolegija’s strategic activities, priority development areas, focusing on studies and applied research, internationalization, including European University Alliance HEROES were presented to the guests.
The discussion focused on the prospects for the development of cooperation between Vilnius kolegija and Canadian higher education institutions. With the support of Embassy, Vilniaus kolegija established and strengthened cooperation with two Canadian higher education institutions: Niagara College and Saskatchewan Polytechnic. The participants further discussed the specific opportunities for implementing joint projects, developing academic mobility for students and staff, and strengthening cooperation with higher education institutions and Canadian companies. The importance of organising joint events, including lectures, meetings, and other academic initiatives, was particularly emphasized.
The guests also toured the Vilniaus kolegija’s library, several laboratories, and specialised learning spaces reflecting a practice-oriented approach of the institution.
Cooperation between higher education institutions and foreign embassies is an important step in strengthening academic and diplomatic ties and opens up prospects for further development of joint initiatives and cooperation.
