Project aim: The HEROES Alliance unites 9 universities of applied sciences across the EU under one common objective: to strengthen the resilience of the regions they are located in through digital innovations. 120,000 students and 14,000 staff spread over 22 campuses in mainly non-urban areas will benefit from deep transnational collaboration in education and research, made possible by new funding from the Erasmus+ Programme.

Results: A new joint study offer at bachelor, master and doctoral levels, closely linked to practice, including a challenge-based learning program, a practice-oriented research center and flexible learning opportunities. HEROES Sandbox – an experimental platform for small-scale pilot projects that strengthen resilience, well-being and community across the alliance. Virtual HEROES campus solutions and a common mobility promotion strategy to increase student and staff engagement in international activities. HEROES microcredentials website launched. A common digital study space – Virtual Campus – is being developed, which connects the modules, learning resources, assessment tools and collaboration opportunities offered by partners across the network. VIKO’s visibility in the international space is being increased and it is being given the opportunity to shape European higher education policies. This is a long-term investment in the quality of studies, the professional growth of teachers and the competitiveness of students in the global labor market.

Project aim: to perform R&D activities that enable the creation (after implementing R&D activities 7-9) and presentation to the market of a model based on artificial intelligence technologies, focused on predicting emissions of internal combustion engines and enabling, after entering input data, to predict emissions of internal combustion engines and energy efficiency parameters.

Results: After the project implementation, it is intended to commercialize the application program based on the developed model for predicting emissions from internal combustion engines. Results: More than 1,600 students and staff will be trained in climate innovation and entrepreneurship. 5 Climate Innovation Laboratories will be created or strengthened in higher education institutions as innovation and experimentation hubs. 10 climate innovation projects will be developed in collaboration with more than 100 stakeholders (business, science, policymakers). At least 60 start-ups and scale-ups will receive support in developing or deploying digital climate solutions. Regional climate action roadmaps will be developed, tailored to local challenges and aligned with regional smart specialisation strategies.

Project name: Heart and respiratory rate recovery in dogs after standardized exercise: a pilot study

Project aim: To assess the dynamics of recovery of HR and RR in dogs after standardized physical exercise and to determine the recovery indicators applicable in practice and the suitability of the protocol for further studies.

Project name: Increasing the productivity and competitiveness of dairy farms through a collaborative model

Project name: Youth Mission Food Educators

Project aim: FoodEducators is an EIT Food programme that provides teachers with fun, creative and interesting activities to engage young people, mainly schoolchildren. Easily accessible, science-based food education materials enhance students’ learning so they can become better informed, conscious consumers of the future.

Results: Significant results have been achieved in Lithuania: more than 100 schools have joined the program, 278 teachers have successfully completed the training and received certificates, and 558 users have registered on the national platform. In total, 14 out of 28 lesson plans have been translated and adapted into Lithuanian, and more than 11,500 students have participated in the program activities, deepening their food literacy competencies through practical activities. Four national-scale activities have also been organized, including career days, forums and study tours.

Project aim: to enhance the quality and effectiveness of STEAM training in sustainable digital manufacturing by fostering a virtual collaborative environment, connecting university FabLabs into an interoperable network, and developing a joint multidisciplinary BIP pilot.
Duration: 01/12/2024 – 30/09/2027
Results: 1. Innovative teaching tools have been created to develop sustainable “Industry 4.0” production competencies.
2. Modernization of study programs – The project aims to integrate innovative, collaborative and interactive tools into higher education programs. This means that VIKO’s study content becomes more adapted to the needs of sustainable production and Industry 4.0.
3. Participation in the project together with institutions from Spain, Poland, Portugal strengthens VIKO’s international visibility and establishes the college as a reliable partner in the European higher education space. The project results (virtual laboratories, new teaching methods) become available not only to VIKO, but also to other higher education institutions that can apply them in their programs.
4. Creation of digital laboratories – During the project, virtual and digital laboratories are being developed and implemented, which allow students to practically test the latest technologies. This strengthens practical learning and provides the opportunity to work with real industrial tools. Student empowerment -Students acquire practical skills in the field of sustainable production, become familiar with Industry 4.0 technologies (automation, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things). This increases their competitiveness in the labor market.”
The project succeeded in creating modern, digital and interactive learning tools (e-learning modules in the Moodle environment, virtual laboratories, simulators), which allow students to realistically model scenarios of sustainable production processes.

Projekto tikslas: To strengthen the knowledge of the Lithuanian language, culture and academic environment of students of the Lithuanian Studies Center in Georgia, developing their ties with Lithuania through an educational cultural program in Lithuania and academic activities of teachers of Lithuanian higher education institutions at the Lithuanian Studies Center.

Projekto rezultatai: 6 most advanced students of the Lithuanian Studies Center and the head of the center participated in an 8-day educational cultural program in Lithuania, during which they got acquainted with the country’s history, traditions, regions and culture heritage. The participants deepened their knowledge of Lithuanian culture and art, especially the work of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and its significance for Lithuanian culture. The students got acquainted with the Lithuanian higher education system, study opportunities and academic environment by visiting Vilnius University, Vilniaus kolegija, Vytautas Magnus University and Klaipėda University. Lectures, seminars and exercises by teachers of Lithuanian higher education institutions were held at the Lithuanian Studies Centre in Georgia, aimed at increasing the diversity of the Lithuanian language learning process. The students got acquainted with new Lithuanian language teaching methods, developed practical communication skills, and expanded their knowledge of Lithuanian history and contemporary Lithuanian literature.

Results: A study consisting of a national surveys on the mental health, emotional well-being, social factors, school environment, prevalence of bullying and support systems of students aged 12-18, results of a survey of students aged 16-18 and insights from focus groups with students (aged 12-15); interviews with education and mental health experts. A course has been developed for education and youth guidance professionals; a digital platform has been created for professionals, teachers, families and young people with resources for mental health prevention, intervention and support, strengthening the use of digital tools in education; and an information campaign on mental health in educational settings is also being carried out.

Results: 1. A training program and methodological materials in English have been prepared. The theoretical part of the training covers the following topics:
– recognition and determination of differences in railway traffic in Poland and Lithuania, taking into account its organization and safety;
– ecological innovations and environmentally friendly activities in railway transport.
The practical part of the training is dedicated to simulating railway traffic in various topographical, meteorological, emergency conditions on Polish/Lithuanian railway sections.

Results: 1. A model for assessing and monitoring digital skills has been developed. 1.1. A methodology has been developed that allows identifying and assessing students’ digital competences in the following areas: information management, communication, content creation, security and problem solving. 1.2. Project aim: During the preparatory visit, the idea of the upcoming joint Nordplus project “Advanced Use of Digital Technologies in Tourism – A Guide for Students of Vocational Education Institutions”, partnership opportunities and further steps in the project development will be discussed.

Results: During the preparatory visit, the issues, objectives, expected results and possible target groups of the future project were discussed, as well as possible roles of partners, project management, budget planning and implementation directions. The visit ended with an agreement between both institutions to prepare and submit an application for the Nordplus programme for the period 2025-2026.

The project aims to foster networking and to develop/improve curricula to reflect the relevance of sustainable development topics.

Results: The status and areas for improvement of the integration of sustainable development topics into study programmes were assessed, examples of good practice were identified, and the need for sustainable development topics was identified based on student survey data.

Results: The implementation of the project will optimize the infrastructure of Vilniaus kolegija, consolidate study programs, optimize and integrate the main administrative and scientific and study service functions and processes. After the implementation of the project, it is planned to establish ArtSpace and TechSpace.
ArtSpace will consist of: Audio-visual Arts Studio and Performing Arts Platform. These hubs will provide students and the Vilniaus Kolegija community with a unique opportunity to develop creative projects, learn and collaborate using modern equipment.
TechSpace will consist of Mechatronics and Smart Mechanical Systems and Prototype Development and Technical Determination Using ICT.
These hubs will have modern and professional equipment that will allow students to work in conditions that are maximally close to real work environments that they will encounter after completing engineering studies and finding employment, engaged in the design, tuning, production of electronic equipment, etc. The project also includes training for employees to work with the information systems used by Vilniaus kolegija and a new Villnaius kolegija quality manual will be prepared.
The project is funded from the Economic Recovery and Resilience Measure. The project has been allocated 4810960.00 EUR.
