Event Details

The ATEE Symposium “The Pedagogy of Meaning in Teacher Education: When Values Become Practice” will take place in VIKO Faculty of Pedagogy (Studentų str. 39A) on April 22–24, 2026.

The event will bring together researchers in teacher education, lecturers, and representatives of educational institutions for a shared discussion on meaning, values, and their expression in practice. Special attention will be given to the professional motivation, responsibility, and value-based choices of teacher educators. It will provide a space for sharing international experience, research, and insights into contemporary challenges in teacher education. The content of the symposium is grounded in the relationship between meaning, values, and professional quality in teacher education. It will explore how values become practice and how they influence educators’ professional commitment and the quality of their work. During the symposium, a round table discussion will also take place for leaders and representatives of teacher education institutions. It will focus on how to strengthen teacher educators’ motivation, experience of meaning, and value-based reflection within institutions.

The event is organized by the ATEE RDC “Empowering Teacher Education”, and the symposium in Vilnius is hosted by the Faculty of Pedagogy of Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution.

This is an important international event for everyone concerned with the quality of teacher education, its value foundations, and future perspectives.
