Career Prospects
Graduates acquire qualification to work as sign language interpreters in sign language interpreting centers around Lithuania, institutions and organizations of the Lithuanian Deaf Association, education institutions, etc.
Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:
- interpret from Lithuanian to Lithuanian sign language and vice versa;
- choose the appropriate translation method for any given situation;
- understand Lithuanian sign language texts varied in style, setting, speaker, etc.;
- speak in expressive and correct Lithuanian sign language on various subjects, and use the lexicon and complicated grammatical structures appropriate for a certain style, situation and register;
- recognise different types of sign language (including signed translation);
- understand different speakers’ texts of varying difficulty, style and theme;
- easily express ideas;
- understand the structure and specifics of a deaf community;
- understand the effects of hearing impairment on personal development;
- be familiar with various technology and its use by the deaf community;
- follow professional ethics requirements.
