The semi-annual meeting of the HEROES Alliance took place at VIKO
From May 19 to 22, the semi-annual meeting of the HEROES European University Alliance took place at Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution (VIKO), bringing together partners from different European countries for collaborative work, discussions, and the implementation of strategic goals. It was an intensive and meaningful week, filled with insights, cooperation, and consistent efforts toward achieving the alliance’s shared objectives.
The semi-annual meeting of the HEROES Alliance at VIKO began with an opening event, during which participants were welcomed by representatives of the institution and the President of the HEROES Alliance. To mark the opening of the event, students and the student choir from the Musical Theatre study programme of the Faculty of Arts and Design performed musical pieces, creating an inspiring and community-oriented atmosphere.
Throughout the week, intensive meetings, discussions, workshops, and strategic sessions were held, focusing on study development, innovation, research, international initiatives, and strengthening regional resilience. The work package teams not only worked in separate sessions but also collaborated in mixed groups, sharing experiences, seeking common solutions, and developing new ideas for future initiatives.
Throughout the week, guests also had the opportunity to get to know Vilnius better during a guided tour, visit the faculties of Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution, and become acquainted with the study environment, laboratories, and hands-on training spaces. These experiences provided a closer insight not only into the institution itself, but also into Lithuanian culture and the academic community.
A warm and community-oriented highlight of the event was the closing session, during which participants, together with the folk song and dance ensemble “Voruta” of VIKO, learned traditional Lithuanian folk dances and songs. It was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen international ties in an informal setting, share cultures, and create unforgettable moments together.
