Two VIKO students from Faculty of Economics – authors of the best “Euroweek 2026” project in Europe
VIKO Faculty of Economics students Einardas Bartuška and Robertas Solonovičius returned from the international academic event “Euroweek 2026” with an impressive victory – the international team they were part of, working together with students from Belgium and Greece, won first place in the “Project Paper” category for the best project. Their project “Learning Faster Than Change: Absorptive Capacity and the Future of Work” was recognized as the best among 15 international teams.
VIKO Faculty of Economics student and competition winner Robertas Solonovičius shared his impressions: “The project left a huge impression on me, primarily because of the exceptionally high level of organisation and the scale of the event, which brought together numerous academics and students from across Europe. Preparing the project within our international team took three months and required a great deal of time, energy, and discipline to meet and work together every week. However, the result was incredible – our project won first place in Europe.”
VIKO Faculty of Economics student and competition winner Einardas Bartuška also shared his experience: “We learned new things and broadened our horizons. It was a very enjoyable and valuable experience that I would definitely repeat. Our whole team is very happy and satisfied with the result—there were definitely plenty of emotions!”
The students were accompanied at the event and supervised throughout the project by Assoc. Prof. Dr Agnė Šimelytė, lecturer at the Department of Insurance.
Held on 4–8 May at the University of Economics in Katowice, “Euroweek 2026” brought together students, lecturers, and researchers from various European countries. This year’s theme, “Resilient Organisations in Times of Uncertainty: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and the Future of Work”, focused on organisations’ ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments, the future labour market, and the importance of international collaboration.
Achievements such as this once again prove that VIKO Faculty of Economics students confidently compete in the international arena and return with the highest awards.
