VIKO has officially become part of the groundbreaking European Universities alliance – HEROES!
From January 21-23, VIKO representatives, alongside 100+ staff members from partner institutions, attended the kick-off event at Thomas More’s campus in Geel, Belgium. The event marked the beginning of an ambitious journey as partners collaborated on specific implementation plans to bring HEROES to life!
HEROES Alliance, co-funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ program and coordinated by Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, unites nine professional higher education institutions (Vilniaus kolegija, Thomas More University of Applied Sciences (Belgium), Fontys University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), University College Northern Denmark (Denmark), Polytechnic University of Beja (Portugal), Deggendorf Institute of Technology (Germany), Halmstad University (Sweden), Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Mendel University (Čekija) with a shared mission: to drive smart and digital innovation and strengthen regional resilience.
With an impressive network of 120,000 students and 14,000 staff members across 22 campuses in nine countries, HEROES is set to make a significant impact through three key programs:
- EDUCATION4HEROES – that will form the core of joint educational programmes
- HEROES4REGIONS – through which international and multidisciplinary teams – students, teachers, and local partners – will tackle concrete challenges together
- HEROES4EVER – that will provide targeted retraining for professionals in digital skills
Guided by the inspiring slogan, ‘Knowledge is power. Resilience and innovation are superpowers,’ the alliance will focus on education, research, and lifelong learning in the years ahead.
