VIKO Teaching Excellence Center launches its activities
Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution Teaching Excellence Centre was established on September 1, 2025. The Centre’s main goal is to strengthen teachers’ didactic competencies and to enable them to create inclusive and modern learning environments that respond to students’ needs.
The Centre’s mission and objectives directly contribute to the Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution mission: transforming teaching ideas into implemented solutions – methodologies, design of learning activities in study programs and subjects, micro-credentials, digital badges – that strengthen a sustainable academic community and create a recognizable study identity.
The Centre’s main functions include:
- development of teachers’ didactic competencies
- introduction of teaching and learning innovations
- development of VLE content and assessment tools
- research and consultation on teaching and learning effectiveness.
The Centre’s aims to:
- provide services related to teaching and learning innovations to lecturers
- advise lecturers on improving and optimising teaching and learning activities
- share information about teaching innovations with the Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution faculties.
To achieve these goals, the Centre will collaborate with the Study Quality Department, faculties, and the Foreign Languages Centre to implement student-centred teaching methods. It will support study program and course developers, provide recommendations for improvement, and organize accreditation of online study courses. Additionally, the Centre will participate in the creation and evaluation of virtual learning environments, e-learning content, and support systems. It will also expand opportunities for blended and hybrid learning, identify and evaluate faculty development needs and outcomes, and cooperate with similar Lithuanian and international organizations in this field.
The Centre is led by Andrejus Račkovskis, supported by Deputy Director Dr. Natalija Pozniak and Specialist Laima Miežienė.
The center is located at Antakalnio g. 54 (Faculty of Civil Engineering, room 220). You can contact us by email at dmc@viko.lt.
