Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution presents a modern space for professional events
Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution(VIKO)opens a new event space that empowers the community and students to create in a professional environment. The new professional event space is intended for conferences, creative activities and performances by lecturers and students, cultural events, discussions, and academic meetings in the city of Vilnius.
The new space has been designed with the needs of modern events in mind: a modern stage, professional lighting and sound solutions, reconfigurable seating, and a comfortable environment will enable the organization of both internal and public events.
According to VIKO Rector Dr. Žymantė Jankauskienė, this new space expands opportunities for students, lecturers, the Vilniaus kolegija / HEI community, and the city of Vilnius.
“We are pleased that this professional performing arts space will serve not only the study process but will also open up new opportunities for artistic expression. We aim to create an environment where ideas emerge, partnerships grow stronger, and opportunities open up for young talents. The new event space will become a place for community, creativity, and professional events. At the same time, it is part of the ArtSpace centre infrastructure being developed at the VIKO. The ArtSpace centre comprises a visual arts studio and a performing arts platform, which will provide both students and the wider public with opportunities to develop creative projects, learn, and collaborate.”
The new space can accommodate up to 500 spectators and stands out not only for its size but also for its technical infrastructure. It is equipped with professional sound, lighting, and stage technology systems, a transformable audience area, and specialized acoustic solutions, allowing the hall to be adapted to different event formats.
“During the design process, the aim was to create a versatile space capable of adapting to very different needs. One day it may host a conference or lecture, the next – a concert, a creative event, or a community gathering,” says Mindaugas Indrašius, Technical Director at UAB “Sonus exsertus,” the company responsible for the integration of stage technologies.
A distinctive solution has been implemented in the event space: one of the largest telescopic, automatically controlled seating tribunes in Lithuania. It allows the hall layout to be quickly transformed and the space adapted for both traditional seated events and more flexible, open-format events.
When designing the hall, significant attention was also paid to acoustics. Technological solutions were developed together with acoustic design, ensuring that the space is equally suitable for both spoken events and musical performances.
According to experts, there are not many halls of this size and modern technological level in higher education institutions in Lithuania. This provides additional opportunities not only for student activities, but also for various partnerships with cultural, business, and local community organizations.
