Vilniaus Kolegija / Higher Education Institution Strengthens Cooperation with the Municipality of Šalčininkai District
Leaders of Vilniaus Kolegija visited the Šalčininkai District Municipality and discussed opportunities of expanded collaboration not only in the field of youth studies but also in jointly implemented social projects, applied research, and outsourced project activities that would ensure benefits not only in specialist training but also have an impact on the region’s development. The Mayor of the Šalčininkai District, Zdzislav Palevič, met with the Director of Vilniaus Kolegija, Žymantė Jankauskienė. Deputy Director for Research and Partnerships at Vilniaus Kolegija, Nijolė Zinkevičienė, and Deputy Director for Economics, Andriejus Sadauskis were also present at the meeting, as well as the Deputy Mayor of the Šalčininkai District, Valdemar Sliževski, and the Head of the Education and Sports Department, Regina Markevič. The Kolegija leaders introduced Vilniaus Kolegija, the Kolegija Director noted that “Our goal is a strong social partnership that ensures benefit and impact on the region. We have a very wide offer of study programmes, we are diverse and open to other initiatives and proposals, we want to be needed”.
According to Regina Markevič, Head of the Education and Sports Department, schools in the Šalčininkai district are open for professional information and meetings with the representatives of the Kolegija in order to educate motivated and focused young individuals.
“I want you to know that you are welcome in Šalčininkai. We are familiar with your institution; the youth in our district widely choose to study there, and collaboration is essential. I already see excellent prospects. We can discuss joint practical work, plan future meetings. Currently, there is a shortage of specialists in various fields, so our collaboration will be beneficial for both parties and will add value to both the Kolegija and our district,” said Mayor Zdzislav Palevič.
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed to prepare a draft cooperation agreement. Its preparation and implementation will be coordinated by Vice Mayor Valdemar Sliževski. It is planned that the partnership agreement between the Šalčininkai District Municipality and Vilniaus Kolegija will be signed later this year.
