Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution successfully concludes Erasmus+ cooperation project “Universities for Sustainable Development”
VIKO, in collaboration with Pablo de Olavide University (Spain), Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Finland), and the company OpenODS (Spain), has successfully completed the Erasmus+ cooperation project “Universities for Sustainable Development” (USD). This initiative aimed to enhance sustainability practices in higher education institutions through innovative digital tools and methodologies.
As part of the USD project, four major outputs were developed:
- Methodological Guide – A framework on how to integrate sustainability into university activities.
- SDG Scorecard – A tool to assess universities’ progress in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Intelligent Target Locator – an AI-powered data analytics tool designed to recognize the direct or indirect connection of documents to Sustainable Development Goals.
- Knowledge for Sustainability Portal – A web application calculating Sustainable Development Goal scores from PDF documents.
Check project outcomes in more details at USD Project Website or LinkedIn.
The culmination of the project was marked by the “Knowledge for Sustainability Seminar“, held last month in Seville, Spain. During this event, three representatives from VIKO – USD project coordinator Sophio Tabatadze and experts Muhammad Sohail and Greta Gruodė from Business Management Faculty – actively participated in discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Throughout the two-day seminar, participants from various educational institutions and companies tested Intelligent target locator and Knowledge for Sustainability portal as well as learned more about USD project, 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. The seminar took place at Pablo de Olavide University and Fundación MAS – an activity center in Seville dedicated to promoting sustainability and raising awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals among the public.
VIKO is proud to have contributed to the USD project and to the broader goal of advancing the 2030 Agenda through digital innovation in higher education institutions. By leveraging technology and strategic cooperation, the project has empowered universities within the consortium to implement sustainable development practices more effectively.
